As a Staff Product Designer, Vice President in Employee Experience (EX) you will play a pivotal role in re-imagining core parts of the employee experience across our internal web channel. Leveraging your extensive experience as a Senior IC you will create and deliver exceptional design work that meets user needs and business requirements and raises the collective maturity of the Product Design practice throughout the web team through coaching, mentorship, and quality of craft. Your ability to influence and devise Product Design strategy is also crucial in helping us drive toward the best outcomes and you can do this seamlessly by exemplifying great collaboration across disciplines (Product, Engineering, Accessibility, and User Research), growth mindset, and being a team player.

Job responsibilities

  • As a Senior IC you'll re-imagine core parts of the employee digital experience (through low and high-fidelity design work) in collaboration with other Designers, User Researchers, Product Managers, and Engineering counterparts.
  • You will devise Product Design strategies that help us get from your long-term Design vision to what we might be able to deliver today whilst navigating complex tech stacks
  • You will champion consistency and a masterful degree of UI/Visual Design craft across our web team ensuring the quality of theirs and your own delivery pushes our collective standards higher
  • Leverage your understanding of both qualitative and quantative research methodologies to interpret insights effectively to influence your design work
  • Present your work to Senior Leadership (Exec/C-Suite level) on a regular basis knowing how to tailor your narrative appropriately for different audiences whilst always keeping the user at the centre of your story and rationale
  • Contribute, champion, and help create standards and patterns that will feature in our EXDS (Employee Experience Design System) using your wealth of experience and knowledge of leading industry standard design systems
  • Support cross-team initiatives that help make our collective Design practice in EX better - such as improving our hiring process for new Designers, expanding our community presence, interviewing new team members, and more
  • Develop trusting and radically candid relationships with your squad and across the rest of the EX organisation
  • Coach and mentor other members of the team to help us collectively raise the maturity and standard of the Product Design craft in the web team whilst fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Extensive experience or equivalent expertise in an individual contributor role on a product design team
  • A proven track record of creating exceptional, world-class digital experiences (through low and high-fidelity design work) that have helped drive success of your business forward and improve the overall maturity of the design practice around you
  • Have a well-trained eye for great visual design execution. You care about getting things right - one pixel off is a big deal to you and the rest of the team
  • Are well versed at working with neighbouring design disciplines such as content design, service design, and user research to help achieve the best outcomes
  • You have led and/or contributed to the creation and maintenance of leading Design Systems
  • You are able to create Design strategies that help our teams get from long term visions to improvements we can make to the employee experience today (think now, next, later)
  • You enjoy thinking through complex product challenges and care about solving the right problem. You can challenge your peers and senior leadership respectfully to ensure we're solving for the right user needs
  • Are fantastic at communicating your thinking and design decisions - you're able to get people along on the journey with you
  • You have mentored and contributed to up-skilling other designers around you
  • You are an advocate for inclusive design and accessibility by championing this through your design process
  • You are highly proficient in Figma and other Design tools. You use this experience to raise the bar of how the wider team uses these tools going forward

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Excellent agile planning skills; high accuracy in estimating tasks across teams
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment is a plus
