This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Cole Engineering Center, Warren, MI or Mountain View Technical Center, Mountain View, CA , three times per week, at minimum.

Editorial Producer & Writer

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Editorial Producer and Writer to join our new storytelling team. This role will be responsible for managing the editorial calendar, overseeing content processes and pipelines, and pitching and crafting compelling written pieces that highlight GM's focus on technology and innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong editorial background, top-notch writing skills, and a knack for synthesizing complicated topics into accessible, high-quality content across various platforms.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Develop and execute the editorial strategy in collaboration with the content team and stakeholders.
  • Manage the editorial calendar to ensure timely delivery of content that aligns with marketing and brand objectives.
  • Produce engaging written content, including in-depth articles, blog posts, newsletters, and more.
  • Edit drafted content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and strength of narrative storytelling.
  • Proactively partner with cross-functional teams to surface new story ideas and develop ongoing content campaigns.
  • Collaborate with designers, videographers, and other team members to enhance content with visuals and multimedia elements.
  • Track data analytics for editorial content and provide insights and best practices to improve performance and reach.
  • Optimize content for SEO and ensure it meets best practices for online readability and accessibility.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Proven experience as an Editorial Producer, Writer, or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your writing and editorial skills in the tech or sustainability space.
  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, communications, or related field and 4-6 years of professional experience.
  • Exceptional writing and editing abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in editing and producing content for digital platforms, including websites, blogs, and social media.
  • Strong research skills and the ability to transform complex information into clear, engaging content.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and strong understanding of SEO principles.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of analytics tools to track content performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Passion or subject matter expertise in the tech, sustainability, or auto industries.

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role is $98,900 - $158,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
